West Coast Eagles Community Camp Visit
Students from Swan Valley Anglican Community School were lucky enough to receive a visit from some of the West Coast Eagles on Tuesday 9 February, as a part of their Australia Post AFL Community Camp program. Development coach Luke Webster and players Luke Shuey, Jack Redden and Tom Cole spoke to students from Year 7-11 students in the Chapel.
The players introduced themselves to the audience and gave a little insight into their AFL background. Each player also spoke about a topic relating to playing AFL such as training schedules, rest and recovery, rehabilitation and game day preparation. They also spoke about some very important topics relating to school life such as the importance of setting goals, eating healthy, drinking plenty of water, leadership and commitment.
Students were able to ask questions about AFL training, teams and sought general information from the players. They also had the chance to get a few autographs on items they may have brought in from home. Overall, the students thoroughly enjoyed themselves and hopefully took away something from the strong messages that were discussed by the West Coast Eagles. I encourage all students to get involved in playing AFL, whether it be for the school or in the wider community!
