Farewell Year 6

On Monday 30 November we celebrated the end of the Year 6 students Primary School journey with a special assembly. With lots of laughter and some tears, this was a memorable assembly which culminated in the students singing to their parents about their journey.

The Junior School Student Council Executive, Amelia Henderson, Michael Avramov, Ashlea Tester and Flynn Otley spoke on behalf of the students by presenting their reflective verse entitled ‘Do You Remember …?’

Do you remember our first day of Kindy, when our shorts and socks met below our knees?
Yes, I remember that.
Do you remember when our hats flopped over our tiny faces, so we could not see where we were going?
Yes, I remember that.
Do you remember in Pre Primary when we all tried to get the play equipment and dress ups first at lunchtime?
Yes, I remember that.
Do you remember when we used up all our playtime building sand castles and burying each other in the sandpit?
Yes, I remember that.
Do you remember racing around the track on a tricycle, nearly missing the teacher?
Yes, I remember that.
Do you also remember when we made a sticky mess with the glue?
Yes, I remember that.
Do you remember our amazingly useful box constructions? What happened to them?
Yes, I remember that.
Do you remember making a spider’s web of words using all those phonic sounds?
Yes, I remember that.
Do you remember when the exciting chicken eggs came to hatch?
Yes, I remember that.
Do you also remember the gasps of delight when we entered the classroom and saw the latest members of our family?
Yes, I remember that.
Do you remember in Year 2, when our teacher couldn’t spell 'museum'?
Yes, I remember that! (Tricky word though)
Do you remember the circus assembly, oh how I wish I could tumble like that!
Yes, I remember that!
Do you remember searching for mini beasts? Poor things!
Yes, I remember that.
Do you remember how joy and excitement filled us when we first tried on our formal uniforms?
Yes, I remember that.
Do you remember our proud faces when we finally figured out how to tie our ties?
Yes, I remember that.
Do you remember how in Year 4 we found everything funny? We would just laugh out loud. Why?
Yes, I remember that.

Yes, I remember that. Isn't hair product banned?

Yes, I remember that.
Do you remember how much fun we had in Year 5 on our first camp?
Yes, I remember that.
Do you remember the obsession with cats? Who was that teacher?
Yes, I remember that. Ms Korten I believe.
Do you also remember on camp when Ms Korten thought that all the boys were asleep, but no one was!
Yes, I remember that. Some of us stayed up all night!
Do you remember our first day of Year 6 and walking into our last year of Junior School?
Yes, I remember that.
Do you remember on camp when we drove Mr Avins up the wall literally? I think he got stuck up there.
Yes, I remember that.
Do you remember when Miss McCallum got pushed in the water?
Yes, I remember that.
Do you also remember how thrilled we were to finish all the tests, projects and assignments for the year?
Yes, I definitely remember that.
Do you remember waking up and realising how quickly the year had gone by?
Yes, we all remember that.

This year has gone by really fast. We have many great memories that will stay with us throughout our lives. So farewell Junior School, thank you for preparing us for the many and no doubt exciting challenges that lie ahead of us.
