About the Play

The Importance of Being Earnest is Oscar Wilde's most well-known and best loved play, as well as being an enormous success in his lifetime. The play is set in Victorian London and centres around Jack, a morally upright young man who lives in the country, who creates an alter-ego in order to escape his boring life.
About our production - Auditions were held at the end of Term 3, 2016. Cast began preparing during Term 4 and rehearsals began at the beginning of Term 1, 2017.

Students in the cast and crew are from Years 10-12 and many were involved in last year’s Drama production Stories from Suburban Road.

Many students across the Secondary School have already been involved in the planning and designing stages of the production. Visual Arts and ICT classes helped to design the promotional poster. Visual Arts, Drama and Woodwork students designed and produced the set.
