NAIDOC Week

Whole School

As we are currently on school holidays, SVACS will be celebrating NAIDOC Week in Term 3, Week 3: Mon 2 - Fri 6 August. Lots of exciting and inclusive activities have been planned. The theme for this year is Heal Country. This means embracing indigenous cultural knowledge and understanding of Country as part of Australia's national heritage. NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. Its origins can be traced to the emergence of Aboriginal groups in the 1920′s that sought to increase awareness in the wider community of the status and treatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians.
