City Of Swan 'Joy' photography competition

Talented Year 9 student Jake Perret from Swan Valley Anglican Community School has entered the City Of Swan “Joy” photography competition. Open to both amateur and professional photographers of all ages across the Perth region, the theme of the competition is ‘Joy in Swan’. All styles of photographs (e.g. landscapes, still life, portraits) are eligible, as long as they have been photographed within the City of Swan.

The competition includes a first prize of $4,000, with the winning photograph printed on the front cover of the City of Swan 2016 calendar. The 11 runners up will be awarded $250 each and their images making up the remainder of the calendar. There is also a Fitzgerald creative award of $300 worth of fine art printing.

Senior School Visual Arts teacher Mrs Melissa Sutterby said, “I am particularly proud of this entrant as he is one of our School's students who does not study Visual Arts this year however, has taken the time and initiative to explore the "JOY" of living in the City of Swan.”

With a descriptive paragraph accompanying each photograph Jake has captured his sense of the ‘Joy in Swan’ within the City of Swan.  Jake said, "I chose to enter this competition as I thought it would be a great opportunity to show off the City of Swan and what a great place it is.  I have lived in the area for nearly 8 years and have seen it grow.  This competition has given me the opportunity to go out and capture some of the great places that are sometimes over looked."

We wait with bated breath to see where Jake places, and either way celebrate the talent portrayed by this young imminent photographer.
