Winter Appeal and Bake Sale
Thank you to all who generously contributed to our annual Anglicare Winter Appeal and Anglicare Ambassador Bake Sale. We received an abundance of food, jackets, sleeping bags, beanies, gloves and scarves. Food items were distributed to local families in need and the clothing items shared between Anglicare's Youth Street Connect program and the regional Anglicare Op Shop. Thank you to everyone who supported the Bake Sale - just over $460 was raised!
In the words of St Francis of Assisi, "For it is in giving that we receive."
Anglicare WA School Sleep Out
Students from SVACS and Anglican schools across WA joined together for a sleep out on an extremely cold and very wet night at Optus Stadium on Friday 16 August. Students experienced what it is like for over 9,000 Western Australians who are homeless on any given night.
By sacrificing home comforts, students raised funds for Street Connect, Anglicare WA’s mobile youth homelessness service. Street Connect is run by a team of youth workers who provide case management support, food vouchers, financial assistance, clothing and counselling via the Street Connect Outreach Bus.
Over 300 students, 50 teachers and 50 volunteers took part in what has been the most successful School Sleep Out to date, raising $90 212.00 of which our 11 students raised $2692.
