ASC Combined Schools Concert 2016
On 16 September 2016, selected students from Swan Valley Anglican Community School participated in the bi-annual ASC Combined Schools Concert. This concert was a part of the 30th year anniversary celebrations for the Anglican Schools Commission. Representatives from 14 different ASC schools, including schools from Victoria participate in various events and rehearsals leading up to the final performance at the Perth Concert Hall.
The 2016 ASC concert focused on combined items, with our students participating in the Combined Concert Band, Combined Choir, Combined Orchestra, Combined Strings and Combined Rock Ensemble. The students were lucky enough to work with nationally recognised guest conductors Steve Williams and Paul Jarmon. All students pushed themselves to learn the challenging repertoire and attend the extra rehearsals to make this event one to remember.
Swan Valley Anglican Community School were well represented in the combined Rock Band. SVACS student Michael Woodland was selected for the solo vocalist on Mark Ronson's hit ‘Uptown Funk’ with other SVACS students also selected to play in the band for this item. All who attended the ASC concert were impressed by the musical efforts of the students and the sense of community that was evident between schools both on and off stage.
