Secondary Athletics 2018

Secondary House Athletics Carnival

The Interhouse Athletics Carnival took place on Thursday 23 August 2018. It was held on the school oval and involved the entire Secondary School. We had a great amount of volunteers as well as the Parents and Friends Association helping with the set up and pack away which was greatly appreciated.

Congratulations to all the students who participated and gave their best effort. We do however, recognise those students who went on to achieve high results.

House Athletics Results 2018

The event started at 9:00am when all the students were marshalled onto the oval. After everyone organised themselves in their House tents, the carnival began with groups moving out and then rotating through the various events which continued throughout the day.

After novelties and individual events, the atmosphere was set to cheer on our chosen individuals to run the exhilarating and exciting relays, which were welcomed with enormous enthusiasm. Year 7s ran with the speed of lighting and the Moore boys took the first win. In Year 10, the relay winners went to the Moore boys again and the Year 12 Moore girls also won. The scores were therefore very close before Waylen took out the title of winning House as well as the Spirit Cup as their thunderous cheers were fuelled with the close competition of the day.

In the conclusion of the event, the Sports Captains Rachael Lual and Georgia Nahuys announced the winning House and the House Spirit award. Waylen took home both awards on the day which was celebrated with a loud cheer from the House.

It was a great day with the majority of the Secondary School students participating. Their efforts are to be commended along with the cooperative nature of their behaviour, which allowed the day to flow smoothly. The support the students had for each other was absolutely incredible and the cheers and chants never stopped which was great to see. Another successful carnival and the last for our 2018 Year 12s.

We hope to see our champion runners soaring in the ACC Athletics Carnival. Hopefully the Year 12s had a memorable last carnival and we look forward to next year’s Athletics Carnival, as always.
