Jess Haydon 2018 Beazley Medal: VET
Jess Haydon is the winner of the prestigious 2018 Beazley Medal: VET.
The Beazley Medal: VET is the State’s top honour in student achievement in vocational education and training.
I was delighted to attend the official ceremony in Kings Park today to see Jess receive his medal from the Governor of Western Australia, The Honourable Kim Beazley AC.
Jess was recognised for demonstrating the most outstanding overall performance for a Year 12 student in a VET Certificate ll or higher, as well as his other WACE achievements.
During Year 12, Jess juggled four days a week at school with one day a week spent off campus completing a Certificate II in Civil Construction with his host employer Ertech.
He also studied English, Maths, Career and Enterprise, as well as completing a Certificate ll in Engineering Pathways and a Certificate ll in Visual Arts.
This caps off a fantastic year for Jess who was the Swan Valley Anglican Community School Year 12 Dux: VET and was also the youngest and only school-based finalist for the 2018 Vocational Student of the Year at the WA Training Awards.
We are so proud of Jess and congratulate him on his success. He is a fabulous role-model, with a bright future ahead of him. Jess is one of our Foundation students from 2006 and it is a pleasure to see him achieve at the highest level.
I am sure our whole school community will join me in congratulating Jess on his achievements.
