About the Role

We are seeking a warm, organised, and service-oriented Library Assistant to support the daily operations of our newly built, purpose-designed Resource Centre. This role is central to creating a welcoming and resource-rich environment for students, staff, and the wider school community.

Reporting to the Head of Resource Centre, the Library Assistant provides high-quality administrative and customer service support, helping to foster a love of reading, learning, and digital literacy.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist students and staff with borrowing, returning, reserving, and locating library resources.
  • Perform administrative tasks including overdue notices, book covering and repairs, and resource record maintenance.
  • Process and catalogue new resources using Oliver v5.
  • Support users in accessing digital platforms such as Wheelers eBooks, World Book Online, and ClickView.
  • Maintain a tidy and inviting library space.
  • Supervise students during designated times (before/after school and lunch breaks).
  • Assist with library events such as Book Week and other literacy initiatives.
  • Undertake additional duties as directed by the Principal or Head of Resource Centre.

 

About You

Experience and Skills:

  • Previous experience in a school library or similar educational setting.
  • Proficiency in Oliver v5 and familiarity with Wheelers, World Book Online, and ClickView.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Competent in using office technology and digital tools.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
