Early Years students have had great fun learning how to express some of their needs through Auslan signing. Auslan is the majority sign language of the Australian Deaf community. It is signed using facial expressions, as well as hand and body language. This has now become an integral part of our pastoral care program. Auslan signing has also become a regular part of the morning greetings in many classes. The highlight for the Pre-Primary cohort was presenting a song at a whole school assembly when they used only Auslan signing instead of singing – an extra bonus during COVID-19 times!
