Y5 & 6 Civics Excursion

Junior Years

Year 5 & 6 History, Civics and Citizenship Excursion

On Tuesday 6th and Wednesday 7th February 2018, the Year 5 and 6 classes went on an excursion to The Constitutional Centre of Western Australia, the Electoral Education Centre and Parliament House. The classes participated in class lessons, mock elections and were given a tour of Parliament House. During the tour, students visited the Legislative Assembly (Lower House) and Legislative Council (Upper House). They were able sit in the chairs of the members of the Legislative Assembly and perform a mock Bill Reading they had rehearsed prior to the excursion. Some of the classes were even lucky enough to meet two of our Legislative Council Members; the Honourable Alison Xamon (MLC for North Metropolitan Region) and the Honourable Charles Smith (MLC for East Metropolitan Region). It was a wonderful day and staff were very impressed by the behaviour of all students.
