Learners Today,
Leaders Tomorrow
At Swan Valley Anglican Community School, we inspire our students to be the best they can be, whatever pathway they choose.
Welcome to Swan Valley Anglican Community School. I consider it an absolute privilege to serve as Principal of such a vibrant, compassionate and future‑focused learning community—one that encourages every student to strive for personal excellence in an inclusive and supportive environment.
At our School, every individual is valued for their unique qualities, gifts and talents. Our academic, wellbeing and co‑curricular programs—delivered by exceptional staff—provide rich opportunities for students to grow and flourish in mind, heart, body and spirit.
Striving for our personal best is at the heart of everything we do. We value excellence across all areas of school life: academic learning, music, the arts, sport, leadership and service. Above all, we offer students a place to explore their potential, discover their strengths, and build the confidence they need to thrive.
We seek to instil in our students a love of learning, belief in their abilities, and deep respect for the diverse talents within our community. We also place a strong focus on personal integrity, compassion, respect and responsibility—qualities we believe prepare our young people to contribute positively not only to our school community, but also to society as a whole.
National Recognition
In 2025, Swan Valley Anglican Community School was honoured to receive two prestigious national awards:
- The Educator Australia 5‑Star Innovative Schools 2025 Award
- The 2025 National ACEL Leadership Award
The Educator Australia’s 5‑Star Innovative Schools recognises schools that are reshaping the future of education through creative, impactful and forward‑thinking initiatives. Our inclusion reflects the strength of our programs that champion student agency and support our commitment to an inclusive environment. These include:
- Our bespoke Learner Profile, developed collaboratively through school‑based research.
- Our New Metrics for Success Research Partnership with the University of Melbourne.
- Our authorisation to co‑issue the Australian Learner Competency Credential (ALCC).
- Our Whole School Buddy Program which fosters connections across year groups.
- Our Pre-Kindy to Year 12 School Culture Program - a set of key pillars that inspire how we behave, support one another, and build meaningful connections.
The 2025 National ACEL Leadership Award also recognises our contribution to the New Metrics for Success Partnership, as well as our leadership in advancing innovative, future‑focused educational practice at both state and national levels.
Commitment to Future‑Focused Learning
Swan Valley Anglican Community School was privileged to be the second school in Western Australia invited to join the University of Melbourne’s New Metrics Research Partnership, working alongside academics and schools across Australia to re‑imagine learning and assessment. As a research partner, our teachers explore new ways to support students in developing the complex competencies they will need to navigate a rapidly changing future.
In 2024, as one of only 20 schools nationally (and two in WA), we were authorised to co‑issue the Australian Learner Competency Credential (ALCC), a powerful new qualification developed by Melbourne Metrics (University of Melbourne). This credential provides a far more comprehensive picture of students’ skills and capabilities, complementing traditional measures such as school reports, NAPLAN and ATAR, and is increasingly recognised by tertiary institutions and employers.
Student Achievement and Alumni Success
We are incredibly proud of our students’ achievements. In recent years, students from our School have earned:
- The Beazley Medal (VET) – awarded to the top VET (Vocational Education and Training) student in Western Australia
- Australian School‑Based Apprentice of the Year – awarded at a national level
- ATAR results of 99+, placing students in the top 1% in Western Australia
Our alumni now pursue an exceptional diversity of careers, including Medicine, Law, Engineering, Veterinary Science, Physiotherapy, Teaching, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Commerce, Public Health, Aviation, the Performing Arts and many more. One graduate became the youngest-ever employee on Barrow Island within the civil construction industry.
A Warm and Welcoming Community
Swan Valley Anglican Community School is widely recognised for our warm, inclusive community and for valuing student voice at every stage of the learning journey. This was particularly evident in the lovely surprise video that the Year 12 students made for me after my first six months as Principal of the School. You might like to take a look: Year 12 Video
