Who could ask for a more perfect day for a swimming carnival than what we were blessed with on Friday 22 March for the Junior Years Interhouse Swimming Carnival at Bilgoman Pool. Competition was rife both in and out of the pool, and the cheering as the Year 3s paraded encapsulated the House spirit that was abundant on the day. As judged by Miss McAllister, it was Irwin that cheered the loudest. Could their cheering help spur on a House victory for the day? They had some work to do as it was Moore who was hot on Waylen’s tail all day.
It all came down to the final pool noodle relays of the day. Could Moore finally knock Waylen off their mantle? Were Miss Eggleston’s Moore-coloured nails an omen for a Moore victory? The results were in…Waylen were winners yet again! Mrs Stewart jumped for joy and the House Captains quickly rose to claim their shield. The question then remained, who will be the Champions of their Year? The suspense was to remain until Chapel.
All students are to be commended on their exemplary behaviour and congratulated for their fantastic efforts on the day. Undeniably, the day could not have gone ahead without the help of the parents who supported their children, the Junior Years staff, the Physical Education team, and of course the absolutely amazing Secondary School students who assisted with many roles on the day, so thank you.
The day finally came for the announcement of the individual champions. The anticipation was high, as were the nerves. The following students prevailed as victors of their year groups and a huge congratulatory applause erupted and was to be heard throughout the school. Well done to these students and all those who pushed them to power towards the wall.
