SVACS Community Fair
At Swan Valley Anglican Community School, the word ‘community’ is central to all that the school stands for. The School sees the relationship with the local population as pivotal in developing students who are positive contributors to society, therefore there are multiple programs in place to engage with the neighbouring residents and local business owners; to give back and pay it forward.
One of the shining lights of the community based programs at the School is the ‘Swan Valley Anglican Community School Community Fair’. This fair has been coordinated by the School’s Parents and Friends Association (P&FA) for the past five years, inviting all members of the community on to the campus to share in a celebration of the school and where we live. Teachers and students, both past and present, contribute to the running of the stalls and activities to create a wonderful, carnival type atmosphere.
This year’s fair was held on Saturday October 28, with attendance once again surpassing that of previous years. Families and residents enjoyed the chance to laugh, mingle and relax, whilst participating in a myriad of activities including market stalls, face painting, bouncy castles, bucking bulls, bungee run, human soccer, Sumo wrestling, show rides, a climbing wall, and a cuddly animal farm. When the action subsided, the chance to partake in some exceptional food at the International Food Tent, Fairy Floss and Popcorn Stand, snow cones, donuts and coffee stall, suitably satisfied the pangs of hunger, whilst listening to some incredible live music performed by students and guest performers.
The School would like to acknowledge the work of all contributors to the day, but particularly to the P&FA who lead from the front in creating the community spirit that this school prides itself on. If you missed it this year, lock it in for the next one.
"We are blessed to have such a wonderful School community to work with in putting on this event each year. It is the giving and enthusiasm of our School community with regard the Community Fair, and indeed all aspects of our wonderful School, which powers us in arranging the event. We renamed the event the ‘Community Fair’ to capture that the event is a community event and ‘An Event for Everyone’. We look forward to welcoming everyone again next year." Julia Routley, President SVACS Parents & Friends Association
