Red Tick Study Skills Parent Information Evening (Middle and Senior School)

Date: Thursday 9 February 2017, 5.00pm - 5.40pm
Venue: Chapel of the Holy Wisdom of God, Swan Valley Anglican Community School.

A structured digital study program will be used by the School to educate students as to how they can effectively enhance their school and home routine to maximise academic performance. As part of the study program, and to support parents in being collaborative in their child’s learning, students in Year’s 7 and new students in Years 8-12 will receive a Student Wall Planner on Wednesday 1 February 2017 to take home.

Parents (Year 7 and new families in 2017 in particular) are invited to attend an information session about the Study Program, Digital Study Skills and Student Wall Planner, which provides examples of ‘best practice’ in the use of the resources. Importantly, it empowers parents to be partners in their child’s progress throughout their years of schooling. The level of commitment and support that parents can provide will ensure that the resources become part of the daily homework and study routine.

Encourage students to manage their time effectively or display sound organisational and study skills.
Students achieve better results if they are more organised with their time and give study the appropriate priority.
Assist students to organise their time in a mature manner in order to keep their study, leisure, sport and extra-curricular activities in balance.
Teach students to acquire appropriate time management skills in order to achieve their goals within and beyond the secondary school environment.

At the Information evening you will be given information about the digital study program focuses on ‘7 Steps to Better Study’ and ‘7 Steps to Independent Learning’ and the study skills seminars through ‘Elevate Education’, focussing on time management, exam preparation and memory techniques (Yr. 10-12).
