Pilgrimage of Hope Walk
As part of the Pilgrimage of Hope Walk 2025, Swan Valley Anglican Community School was honoured to welcome The Right Reverend Hans Christiansen (Assistant Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Perth) and The Reverend Dr Eleanor O’Donnell (AngliSchools Director of Anglican Identity). They joined Junior Years students, staff, and leadership for a meaningful half-day pilgrimage that began with a Chapel service and continued with a student-led walk to All Saints’ Anglican Church in Henley Brook. The experience concluded with a time of prayer and reflection, bringing spiritual depth and historical awareness to the day.
All Saints’ Anglican Church, the oldest church building in Western Australia, holds deep historical and cultural significance. Originally a Noongar campsite and later visited by the Stirling expedition in 1827, the church was built by local residents using donated materials. Reverend William Mitchell, who led its construction, is the great, great, great grandfather of Shirley Steel (Head of Primary), adding a personal connection to the experience. This special event beautifully connected our students with the spiritual and historical roots of our community, making it a truly memorable experience.
